Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is becoming a challenging health problem worldwide. It has been reported that there is a rapid increase in Diabetic patients in developing countries like India. Increase in physical in-activities, life style modification over nutrition and nutrition transition has contributed to the increasing incident of chronic metabolic. Hence, Prevalence, Awareness, Stress evaluation & functional performance among population with II Diabetes.METHODOLOGY:An observational study was conducted for 100 Diabetic patientsfor knowing the Prevalence, Awareness, Stress evaluation & functional performance using BMI (body mass index), dietary evaluation the UK dietary and diabetes questionnaire, SF-36 QUESTIONNAIRE&DASS 42(depression, anxiety and stress scale) for population with II Diabetes.RESULT: Among 100 participant’s 88% of patients were having healthy diet, the physical function of the patients were decreased , pain perception was more , fatigue was more, 36% in moderate statedepression and none in the severe stage, 8% peoplewith severe anxiety& 4% people with severe stress.CONCLUSION: The study suggested that physical performance of the patients were less and fatigue was more, pain perception was more.There was higher levels of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms in diabetic population when compared with the healthy controls. Lifestyle modification places a major role in self-management of type-2 diabetes. Increase in physical activity for at least 30 minutes per day will reduce insulin resistance & maintains glucose levelin the body. Hence awareness of physical fitness should be promoted.
