Abstract

India has a characterstics. It is multilingual country. Indian literature is one. According to critics of Indian literature, Indian society reflects through Indian languages. Assamese is one of the Indian languages. Matsyagandha is Indian novel written by Homen Borgohain. It is written in Assamese language. According to the sight of social context, the content of this novel is very important. It deals with cast system. This system is a major social problem. In this novel, the writer shows the problem, it bad effects etc. But the important thing in this novel is that the one of the character fight against this system. The method of the novel is Analytical.
