Effect of Al2O3 Nanofluid on the Performance of Double Slope Solar Still

Abstract

The current investigation work deals with the effect of Al2O3 nanofluid on the performance of a single basin double slope solar still. Initially, The experimental works are carried out in the single basin double slope solar still with various quantity of saline water (15kg, 20kg, 25kg) to find the optimum quantity of saline water. Then the investigations are continued using different concentration (0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3%) of Al2O3 nanofluid on volume basis with optimum quantity of water in the basin. It is noted that 0.3% concentration of Al2O3 nanofluid produces 3.350 kg of distilled water per day. The result exhibits that Al2O3 nanofluid considerably enhances the heat transfer rate and evaporation rate of single basin double slope solar still.
