Abstract

In this digital era, internet applications have become indispensable for any business and personal processes and tuning the performance of these applications is a critical process due to its complexity. Enormous and continuous researches are being carried since the past two decades which have explored mechanisms for managing and optimizing the performance of web applications with a special focus on key factors like user satisfaction, stem stress and overload, search engines’ ranking and optimizations, and revenue, etc., s these factors have a direct impact on actual business. Plenty of researches have been carried out to have complete control over characteristics like request scheduling, admission control, service differentiation, dynamic resource management, service grading using various methodologies such as control-theoretic approaches, queuing models, observation-based approaches which are basic mean for performance optimization. This paper makes a survey on different methodologies, techniques and proposals which are used to manage and optimize the performance of web applications.
